Job description
Lead Mentor II (Part-Time)
The mentor is responsible for working with up to 5 mentees, through the Manhood Training Camp program. This program mentors male youth ages 11-17, during a weekend evening, when at-risk behaviors are more likely.
The Professional Mentor is a part-time position, with approximately 5 hours each weekend. The position involves hosting small group outings with their mentees and providing 1:1 support to the family when behavioral issues arise.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Complete all training and onboarding.
• Attend weekly support tele-meetings with the Mentor Coordinator.
• Communicate with mentees or parents in agreed upon methods and frequency which may include emails, texts, in-person meetings, or video chats.
• Plan engaging recreational outings for groups.
• Provide life skills training to mentees on a wide range of issues.
• Provide encouragement and inspiration to mentees.
• Identify when a youth may be experiencing difficulties and develop a plan of support with the Vision to Succeed Mentor Coordinator.
• Assist mentee to develop goals toward education, recreation, and career.
• Have a good knowledge and understanding of Vision to Succeed’s model and resources to refer supports as appropriate.
• Accurately record contacts with mentees.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
• High School Diploma or GED, or Some College
• Passion to make a difference
• Must demonstrate empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills
• Ability to use initiative and to be a self-starter
• Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to participate in outdoor recreational activities
• Must have a valid Driver’s license in the State of Illinois and be willing to transport youth
• Agree to complete a background check
Benefits:
•Work Schedule: 1 day a week on (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) in the evenings/nights for at least 4 hours
• Pay Rate: $15-$75/hour
